I had a doctors appointment yesterday and the doctor called Aubrey a "Show Off".
When she went to "find" her by feeling my belly she was "right where she should be". When she tried to find the heartbeat she got it on the first try and it sounded "perfect". She said "What a show off!" with a big smile on her face.
This got me thinking about the little dancing baby that was on that ultrasound screen. I was talking to Shaun about it and we think she is a little show off. She always seems to be saying "look at me!"
Shaun thinks we are in trouble. We already have a director, now we are getting an actress too. :-)
I love my little show off!

20 Weeks - Half way there!
How your baby's growing:
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system.

19 Weeks
How your baby's growing:
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

The verdict is in!
After the craziest ultra sound ever... Over and hour of having my stomach smashed around which has left me feeling like someone punched me in the gut repeatedly. Being told we would have to come back in a few weeks because our little pumpkin was moving around too much and wouldn't hold still for her pictures. Then having the doctor come in to try to get the pictures the tech couldn't.
We are proud to announce that Kaitlyn is having a little SISTER!
Kaitlyn loved hearing pumpkins heart beat her face was priceless. She was a little overwhelmed due to the length of the appointment so she didn't really catch the announcement that the baby is a girl. When the tech left before the dr came in we started to ask Kaitlyn about her sister and what her name is. Kaitlyn started to get excited and wanted to go back to "that store we were at the other day" to get the "tutu dresses".
So after we left the appointment (with one picture... We had about 12 of Kaitlyn). We went to Babies R Us and let Kaitlyn shop for her baby sister. She picked out 3 outfits and a snuggle blanket/animal.
So the next question everyone wants to know is... Names? We have known the
names of potential future children since we decided Kaitlyn's name. Aubrey Kelly Gines. She will have the same initials as her Grammy.

Little Aubrey was VERY active while we were watching her. She was moving her hands and feet all over the place. It even looked like she had both hands resting under her head at one point. The doctor said she has all of her parts and organs look good. She is right on track with her growth and looks good. Happy Parents! Happy Big Sister!
We love you Aubrey! Almost halfway there!
Also a note in the fancy level 2 ultra sound... I think I saw every bone in the baby's body. But I didn't get a lot of the cute here just stare at your baby's profile and count their toes. That I got with Kaitlyn. I'm sure they are great for really checking out organs but I preferred the slightly fuzzier pictures we have of Kaitlyn. Who knows. I'm just happy she's a healthy baby!
Pink or Blue??
Today is Ultra Sound day! Our appointment is at 4:30 this afternoon which feels like forever right now!
What do you think baby will be?

How your baby's growing:
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.Saturday, May 11, 2013
Thinking of you...
Today when we were out shopping Kaitlyn wanted to buy matching dresses for herself and pumpkin. She still insists you are a girl. Daddy had to talk her down.
Daddy bought you a "squirt" toy. Squirt from Finding Nemo. He has been eyeing the Disney baby toys for a while, now he has an excuse. It makes mommy smile.
Our ultra sound is on Tuesday at 4:30pm. Everyone is very excited to see you. Don't be shy, let us know if you are a boy or a girl. ;)
Mommy loves you!

How are you feeling?
What is the most asked question recently?
"How are you feeling?"
Generally I have felt pretty good. Kaitlyn and I battled a stomach bug last week but other then that I feel good. My energy has come back, I generally feel pretty good. The biggest issue right now is heart burn.
Shaun and I went to my appointment last week and everything looks good. Baby pumpkin was very cooperative and we were able to hear the heart beat easily. I can't tell you how much I love hearing that sound! Zantac twice a day for my heartburn until they see me again.
When we got home I told Kaitlyn that I went to the doctors and they used a big microphone to listen to Pumpkins heartbeat. She got so excited and asked me if I had a big microphone she could listen to the babies heart beat with. She cracks me up.
We have our ultrasound appointment next week and will hopefully find out if Pumpkin is a boy or a girl! We will have to wait and see!

How your baby's growing:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.
